Insane PARK

Insane PARK (b. 1980) has been an artist who has explored the correlation between the visual- and perceptual- culture, based on interest in media and images. By analyzing and dismantling the conventional images in recognition that is repeatedly exposed through the media, the artist attempts to express the essence and limitations of the human being who perceived through the eyes. From the initial cable-painting of a portrait to neon-work which explores the relationship between text and images, presents the moments and facts that we have been ignored by finding small clues of daily life and reconstructing with an editor-like attitude.

Each randomly collected image, particularly on a particular subject, focuses on stimulating the perception of the image, not our sense of image association, from portraits to pornography. For example, a face that appears to contain the essence of a person, and even a portrait, is divided into several units through the duty of a light coat, which is a duty to impart our eyes, which are diversified and cognitive, which we want to understand, cools our eyes and stimulates the relationship between similar images and thoughts. In addition, the artist distorts a ubiquitous and predictable image at random. Based on such oversupplied images, the work is questionable in the media format and is post-production to re-use existing art rather than completely new. Like DJs, He remixes and programs existing references as an editor rather than a creator.

Insane PARK has held solo exhibitions at Arario Gallery (Seoul, Korea) in 2020, Arario Museum (Jeju, Korea) in 2019, Make Shop Art Space (Paju, Korea) in 2017, and the Youngeun Museum (Gwangju, Korea) in 2012. He also participated in group exhibitions in Alternative Space LOOP (Seoul, Korea), Bongsan Cultural Center (Daegu, Korea) in 2021, Gyeongnam Art Museum (Changwon, Korea) in 2017, Savina Museum(Seoul, Korea), Nam June Paik Art Center(Youngin, Korea). He participated in a residency at Gyeonggi Creation Center (Gyeonggi-do Province, Korea) the Yongeun Museum (Gwangju, Korea) in 2011-2013, and won the Grand Prize of the Arts of the Etro in 2013.
