Chen Yujun tells his story based on the artist’s critical perspective and examination about the concept of an individual and society. He is particularly interested in the identity of self as an Asian. Naturally he started investigating what constitute as ‘Asia’ and how diverse culture and history it is comprised of, as this work “Asia Map No. 180301” is one of the attempts. The collaged papers, newspapers and drawings illustrate how each society identifies the concept of a community differently, and what Asia is at large.
