...In his studio, where he prepared several works for the Daejeon Museum of Art's youth artist support exhibition Next Code, KANG Cheolgyu had several small-sized paintings displayed among his larger works. Among these, one could see figures hunting with bows, guns, and axes, as well as surreal landscapes marked by large, black circles. "My paintings naturally embody the will, sensations, and psyche dominant during that period," says KANG Cheolgyu, who views his twenties as a time of wandering. As he faced the path of becoming a full-time artist, he translated his feelings of solitude and suppressed anxiety directly onto the canvas.
