Exploring ‘Negativity’ Through Buddhist Paintings and Folklore – PARK Wunggyu’s Solo Exhibition New Body

Arario Museum Jeju is currently presenting New Body, a solo exhibition by artist PARK Wunggyu. Known for his ongoing visual exploration of negativity through the formal language of religious painting, PARK has previously unveiled a variety of series including Ghost Buddha. In this new body of work, titled the Pseudo-Folklore Series, he adopts the visual formats of Buddhist painting and narrative structures drawn from folklore to endow symbolic representations of negativity with new storylines. (…) The exhibition runs through September 6, 2025, at Project Underground, located within Arario Museum Tapdong Cinema on Tapdong-ro, Jeju City.
