UM Tai-Jung’s artistic world explores the existence of things as living structures, where objects and humans, time and space continuously intersect within a space governed by its own unique order. Engaging deeply with the materiality of metals such as steel, copper, and aluminum, he imbues them with a sense of temporality, spirituality, and existential depth. In his early practice, he was drawn to the raw physicality of steel, creating powerful and intense sculptures. Over time, he expanded his experimentation to include various materials and forms, particularly focusing on copper, bronze, and aluminum to delve into the sculptural expression of thought and temporality inherent in objects.
