Insane PARK, Avant-Garde Does Not Surrender

The solo exhibition Avant-Garde Does Not Surrender by artist Insane Park (45) explores the theme of vandalism through a distinctly kitsch aesthetic. One of the key works, Burning Down the Galleries, features a performance video in which the artist fills the letters of the word “GALLERIES” with matches and sets them on fire. In the video, Park ignites the letters “LIES” within the word first—symbolizing that everything about the act is, in itself, a lie. Above the monitor, the charred letter structure used in the performance is displayed, serving as both a relic of destruction and a sculptural artwork in its own right.
