A “worker” is someone who provides labor and earns wages for living. Legally, they enter a labour contract on equal footing with capitalists; economically, they are defined as those who own no means of production and sell their labor as a commodity.
(...) So what does it mean to shape the lives of workers into artistic labor? It’s labor that brings the working‐artist to the surface, visualizing their identity, while reminding the community of the current state of laborers. It’s also practical labor that forges new forms of solidarity. One work that embodies this concept is the late GU Bonju's Monument for a Bygone Century (2001).
