In the Digital Age of Endless Reproduction, Does the Original Still Exist? — OK Seungcheol’s Solo Exhibition

An artist sits sketching a marble statue of Agrippa, the Roman general, on display at the Louvre. Is the drawing the original? Or is the statue being sketched the original? Or perhaps the true original is Agrippa himself, who lived in ancient Rome? These questions lie at the heart of PROTOTYPE, a solo exhibition by artist OK Seungcheol, currently on view at the LOTTE Museum of Art in Songpa-gu, Seoul. OK has long explored the boundaries between originals and reproductions, digital images and physical reality, questioning the very notion of authenticity in the age of endless replication.
