Businessman, Collector, Artist CI KIM’s Three Faces in That Alone Is My World, on View in Cheongju

“The most important thing that makes me paint is impulse. There is nothing I force myself to do.” Rather than planning or calculating his work, he chooses to immerse himself in sensations that arise from within and carry them through to the end. In another work text, he writes, “Like a lighthouse at sea, ‘dream’ is the light that illuminates my life. That is why, to me, everything is a dream.”

Impulse, sensation, and dream these three keywords form the central axis that runs through his artistic practice.
