"A sculptural work that builds a world and sets forth the earth is a clash of struggles, and through this struggle, the unconcealment of all beings — that is, truth — is attained. One of the ways in which truth comes into being is through the existence of the work as a work."
— Sculptor UM Tai-Jung
UM Tai-Jung defined sculpture as “an art that resists a disenchanted world.” It is not art politicized or moralized, but art as a space where the unconscious, the mysterious, and intuition dwell. He emphasized that “art must inherently contain magic, spirit, and a mysterious world.”
