Taiwanese artist Shih Yung Chun will hold his first solo exhibition in Korea, titled “Forbidden Love,” at Arario Gallery Seoul from October 16 to December 6, 2025. The exhibition features a diverse range of works, including seven three-dimensional installations, twenty-four paintings, and one video piece. Through the creation of seven immersive sets resembling cinematic scenes—a kitchen, corridor, hotel room, street, bar, stage, and living room—Shih explores taboo emotions such as betrayal, competition, and desire. These staged environments expand into a dynamic video work and twenty-four large-scale poster paintings, weaving together narrative, imagery, and performance. In this interview, we speak with Shih Yung-Chun to delve into how he confronts and reinterprets contemporary issues within these tension-filled, toy-like worlds.
