LEE Eunsil’s paintings translate waves etched into the body into landscapes of nature, quietly affirming that the world continues to move even after pain has passed. Opening on the 17th at ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL, Surging Waves is a solo exhibition that does not frame childbirth as either something sacred or tragic. Instead, it presents paintings that translate the physical traces left on the body into the language of nature.
This exhibition marks the first time Lee Eunsil brings the experience of childbirth, a subject she has long contemplated, fully to the forefront of her work. Grounded in the techniques of East Asian painting, her practice has consistently transformed emotions that emerge at the point where personal desire and social norms collide into a metaphorical visual language.
