Looking at LEE Eunsil’s works, childbirth can feel like a stage clearing game. A lone figure stands before a mythical dragon or an overwhelming force of nature, fighting through the ordeal and barely making it to the next stage. Yet countless stages still lie ahead. Worse still, the battle has left serious wounds.
There is a sense of watching a weary warrior who longs to move on to the next stage, but whose body no longer fully responds. At the same time, the works offer a quiet sense of consolation, the feeling that one was not alone in having gone through such an experience.
