LEE Eunsil’s first solo exhibition at ARARIO brings into view her long held reflections on childbirth, a subject she experienced painfully years ago, rendered through ink and colour painting. The title Surging Waves likens the major and minor turning points that individuals encounter in life to the height of waves.
Ten new works, shown on the first floor and basement level, translate the physical pain and hallucinatory states associated with childbirth into scenes drawn from nature and animals. On the third and fourth floors, the exhibition presents earlier works made between 2007 and 2024.
