LEE Jeongbae, Form of Living

At the entrance of the exhibition, the first object to greet visitors is the Table for Rest mentioned by the artist. It is a remnant from more than twenty years ago, from a harsh period when even a proper piece of furniture was beyond reach. At the time, for his wife who had to sit on the floor to work while heavily pregnant, LEE Jeongbae attached legs, somewhat clumsily, to a wooden board he had found nearby. The height was carefully set so that her swollen belly would not press against it, while allowing her sketchbook to rest comfortably.

The low table stands as a testament to the years during which the struggling artist couple endured by supporting one another, and it is also the object from which the philosophy of this exhibition was first set in motion.
