PARK Youngsook, Look, That Woman Sings and Dances

Son Anna, Harper's Bazaar, 2 April 2026

The exhibition at ARARIO GALLERY SEOUL marks the first occasion since PARK Youngsook’s passing at the age of 85 in October last year to reflect retrospectively on the subjectivity of the “woman” captured in her photographs. The exhibition title, Look, That Woman Sings and Dances, is drawn from the poem “A Flower Shakes Her ,” which poet Kim Hyesoon gifted to PARK Youngsook during her lifetime.

Lines such as “How can the earth bloom without going mad,” “The madness rising from a woman’s body is like a flower rising from her body,” and “How can a woman sing and dance without going mad” resonate anew. We will look. We will remember. PARK Youngsook, and those women.
