At ARARIO GALLERY on Yulgok-ro in Seoul, a memorial exhibition for PARK Youngsook, Look, That Woman Sings and Dances, is on view through the 18th of next month. While studying history at Sookmyung Women’s University, she founded the campus photography club Sukmihoe in 1962, and in 1975, marking International Women’s Year, she held a solo exhibition featuring photographs that captured the realities of women workers.
From early on, PARK Youngsook took up the camera and encouraged the women before her lens to meet the gaze beyond it with confidence.
