Kohei Nawa’s “Throne(g/p_pyramid)” is a sculpture produced in a reduced ratio from the 10.4 meter installation exhibited at the Louvre in 2018. Created by using 3D modeling to transform the texture of the surface, one can feel the historical meaning of the ‘throne,’ and the artist’s endeavors for a new understanding of that meaning through the senses. As the model is created using a new technology, the surface made out of real gold leaf is made based on the traditional Japanese gold leaf technique that is originated from Kyoto, where the artist is born and based.
