G-DRAGON is not only one of the leading artists in K pop but also an internationally recognised art collector. His collecting activity is so prominent that ARTnews in the United States named him among its “Fifty Notable Collectors.” For him, art is not a casual hobby. It is an extension of his own aesthetics and worldview. His social media often features works by globally acclaimed artists such as Richard Prince, George Condo, Jeff Koons and Damien Hirst, turning his platform into a space where he engages with fans through art.
In 2015, the exhibition “PEACEMINUSONE Beyond the Stage,” organised in collaboration with Seoul Museum of Art, became a defining project that showcased G-DRAGON’s artistic sensibility. Fourteen artists, including GWON Osang, Michael Scoggins and Sofie Cléments, presented works that took G-DRAGON as their muse, shown alongside pieces from his personal collection. Widely referred to as “the G-DRAGON exhibition,” the project was regarded as an experiment that blurred the boundaries between popular culture and contemporary art, and for many visitors, it established G-DRAGON not only as a musician but as a cultural icon with a distinct artistic presence.
