Gwon Osang on Photography, Sculpture and the Art of Looking

Internationally recognised for his pioneering photo sculptures, Korean artist Gwon Osang (b. 1974) has spent more than two decades challenging conventional ideas of sculpture. Seamlessly combining photography with three-dimensional form, his practice explores the relationship between image, material, and perception, while continually pushing the boundaries of contemporary sculpture. Through series including Deodorant Type, Relief and Mass Patterns, Gwon has developed a distinctive visual language that reflects on the act of carving, the representation of the human body and the possibilities of sculpture in the digital age.
