At the heart of the KAIST campus in Daejeon, where cutting-edge science and engineering research is underway, three 3.5-meter-tall silver aluminum sculptures have taken their place. They are new works by UM Tai-Jung (88), a master of Korean contemporary abstract sculpture, titled The Emergence of the Stranger I, II, III. The metal pillars installed across the campus reflect light and air, inviting students to pause for a moment and confront both their inner selves and the “other.”
