The mountains and colors of Yoo Youngkuk (1916–2002), a master of Korean abstract art, have been transformed into a monumental media artwork across the 222-meter-long, irregular facade of Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
Titled Finding the Mountain Within Me, the six-minute media artwork is part of Seoul Light DDP 2026 Fall, which has been projected onto the exterior wall of DDP in Jung-gu, Seoul, since September 3. The work is a collaboration with KWON Hayoun (45), one of Korea’s most prominent media artists and documentary filmmakers, and is presented in conjunction with Yoo Youngkuk: The Mountain Is Within Me, currently on view at the Seoul Museum of Art’s Seosomun Main Branch through October 25. The exhibition surpassed 300,000 visitors on September 5.
