From Spanish Art to a New Generation of Asian Artists

PARK Wunggyu’s new work New Body, which explores the Buddhist painting tradition of Gusangdo(九相圖), depicts a monumental body in which internal organs, fur, and the legs of various arthropods intertwine, breaking down the boundaries between human and nonhuman. Three faces reminiscent of the Holy Trinity are marked by spreading cracks and inflammation, yet at the same time, a golden halo radiates from within. It is an image that echoes the sensibility running throughout the exhibition.
