LIM Nosik has expanded the sensibilities of traditional painting into a contemporary visual language. He explores the meaning of landscape by layering within the picture plane the time and memories accumulated in a place, as well as the relationships between people and nature.
Taking the landscape of his hometown as the starting point for his practice, he observes the lives of those who inhabit it, including families, elderly people left behind as younger generations move away, migrant workers, and local funeral customs. Through these observations, he transforms the enduring traces of agrarian life into painterly scenes.
