Kim Yeon Jae, Economic Review, 2 December 2023

The Arario Gallery Seoul is holding a solo exhibition of JUNG Kangja, "It Has Always Been The Beginning," which is a collection of JUNG Kangja's (1942-2017) paintings. JUNG was an artist who presented her works until passed away, but she didn't receive much attention.

However, this year, dramatic re-examination has begun in art scene at home and abroad to the extent which seems like "resurrection of JUNG Kangja."

In particular, JUNG's installation artwork, "Kiss Me," is attracting great attention at the exhibition, "Korean Experimental Art 1960-70s," which is presenting currently at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, USA. This artwork will be moved to the Hammer Museum in LA from February 11 to go on the tour when the New York exhibition ends.

In addition, JUNG has been honored to be included in the 11 major female artists who have promoted women's rights around the world and created a turning point in feminism over the past 100 years. In October, she was the only Asian artist selected in the "Modern Women" section of FRIEZE MASTERS 2023 in London, England.

At the Arario Gallery Seoul, which opened JUNG Kangja's solo exhibition on November 15 at the old building next to Chang Deok Palace,"Space," is presenting about 40 paintings of the artist. All of them are paintings by JUNG from 1995 to 2010.
