Biography

AN Gyungsu (b.1975) often focuses on forgotten places in the city. Those are places like lonely vacant lots and neglected ruins that only hold the traces of departed beings. The artist repeatedly records the 'floating landscapes' encountered in daily life on the screen. Thinking of things that pass through places and remain, and those who remember them. The Palm Tree Monument (2023) series are paintings drawn from press photos of destroyed sites around the world due to disasters. The time of trees standing starkly amidst faded debris is preserved as a perpetual monument.
