KIM Inbai, A Man Asleep

French writer Georges Perec’s novel A Man Asleep is written almost entirely in the second person. The “you” in the novel may refer to another person who remains impossible to fully grasp, no matter how closely one tries to observe them; it may also be an “other self” viewing oneself from an objective distance, or even the reader of the novel. It can also suggest the distance between a creator and their work.

Sculptor KIM Inbai draws on the novel as the motif for his solo exhibition A Man Asleep at ARARIO GALLERY in Seoul.
