Recurring Wars and Disasters, Cassandra’s Faded Warning

Nalini MALANI is a globally acclaimed artist whose work has long addressed the devastation of war and gender based violence. Born in 1946, MALANI is a pioneering figure in India’s video art, belonging to the first generation of Indian artists to work in the medium.

 

She was the first Indian artist to have a retrospective at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the first non Western artist to receive the Joan Miró Prize. A major solo exhibition of her work is scheduled to take place at Tate Modern next year.
